Today a collaborative effort between @bawbawfoodhub @bawbawfoodmovement, East Gippsland Food Cluster, Agribusiness Gippsland and @foodforall_latrobevalley hosted Devita Davison from @foodlabdetroit. Now more than ever, consumers want to know the story behind the food they eat: how it was grown or raised and what impact its production and distribution had on the environment. Since 2011, FoodLab Detroit has been supporting a community of socially and environmentally responsible food companies out there creating delicious, nutritious, natural, accessible food and at the same time changing the economic and social landscape of Detroit! It was inspiring to hear Devita Davison speak today. Devita is the Executive Director of FoodLab Detroit, a nonprofit organization that works to provide entrepreneurs with technical assistance, workshops, resources and the skills they need to start and grow a strong values-based food business. We loved all the stories and photos of how food has helped change Detroit – a picture in Devita’s presentation said ‘Be the change you want to see’! At FoodLab they’re all about helping good food businesses address social challenges and provide food entrepreneurs with the tools & resources necessary to take their business to the next level. Gippsland needs more food entrepreneurs! The food was exceptional- thanks @bawbawfoodhub
